Cox users have the option of accessing the emails through the Web browser. However, they prefer to have bypassed their emails to Outlook for better communication and management. These steps by the tech support team of Outlook will guide the users in setting up the Cox email with Outlook. Once the emails are setup, the user will be able to send and receive Cox emails through Outlook. The steps are as follows:
- Launch Outlook.
- Click Tools
- Select Account Settings.
- Click the E-mail tab, and select the New button.
- Click the radio button labeled Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP and click Next.
- Place a check in the box labeled Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.
- Select Internet e-mail and click Next.
- Enter the name as you would like others to see it when receiving a message from you and the full email address ending in @cox.net.
- Select POP3 from the Account Type dropdown menu.
- Enter pop.east.cox.net as the incoming server address and smtp.east.cox.net as the outgoing server address if you are in an Eastern state.
- In Western states, enter pop.west.cox.net and smtp.west.cox.net, respectively.
- Cox provides you with information on the regional location when the account is established.
- Enter the user name, the part of the email address before the @cox.net, and password.
- Click Next,
- Click Finish.
These steps will configure Cox email with Outlook. Once the settings are configured, the user can send and receive their Cox emails in Outlook. This makes management of the emails convenient.
